BBC Radio 4 / West Midlands Readers’ Network Commissioned Short Stories

During summer 2007 five readers’ groups in the West Midlands will be working with five writers to commission short stories especially for their groups. The readers’ groups will get to read the short stories they have commissioned in early October. The stories will then be read by their authors and recorded at the Birmingham Book Festival on 20th October for broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in March 2008.

The five pairs of readers’ groups and writers are:

  • Will Buckingham – Walsall Black Readers’ Group
  • Helen Cross – Wenlock Books Book Group, Much Wenlock
  • Lindsey Davis – The Listeners’ Circle, Solihull Central Library
  • Mil Millington – Babes in Arms Book Group, Leominster
  • Nicola Monaghan – Claverley Book Group

We hope to make the commissioned short stories available on our website after they have been broadcast.
